Update~

"A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success."
Elbert Hubbard
It's been well over a month since my plea for help with my son and his separation anxiety, and I am happy to share that we have made great progress.  After reading many of the suggestions and reading some of the stories you all shared, I came up with a plan.  Shortly before I posted that request for help, I had decided to give the power to Liam and told him to tell me when he felt comfortable for me and Lila to leave.  So that is where the plan began.  We then added to that two hugs, three kisses, and a special word of the day that we would say in each other's ear quietly, or loudly in Liam's case, on the count of three.  Our special word changes but here are the ones we have used: spider snake, snake spider, komodo dragon, nike and tarantula.  My stay of an hour and a half has be cut to 30 minutes max.  I would say that is great progress and it has all become much less stressful and a whole lot more enjoyable.  Every morning, Liam still says he's not going to school, he doesn't want to go to school and he wants a day off.  But as soon as we get to school and get in the building, he runs off to play leaving Lila and me behind.  I think the fuss before school is just part of the routine.  Thanks for all the love, support and suggestions on this matter friends.

As for the rest of life, things are going much better all the way around.  We got a lot of work done on our house in this past month, so our house now feels like a home.  I finally feel like I am on top of the things I need to do instead of under it all.  And we finally had people over to our new house for the first time to celebrate Jason's 40th birthday last night.  All in all, I feel that we, my family and I, have finally found our rhythm and can enjoy life more.  It's taken us 9 months to find our way but we have.  I am grateful and can breathe a sigh of relief.

All right then,  on with the day.

  1. Marcia, I love that spider snake and snake spider made the top of the list. That made me laugh out loud. The joy of little boys. I'm so glad that things have improved. And I'm sure they have even more since then.
    Lots of love,

  2. Awe Whitney,

You are the best! Boys are fun and full of astounding amounts of energy! You are gonna love seeing the world through Cosmo's eyes.

Thanks for the love and support. Things are much better and we have a new special word nearly everyday. Today it was: caterpillar, catergiller, catakiller. It's certainly been a process but now he leaves me at the door.

    Love and hugs,
    Marcia
